There is unjustifiable poverty, hunger, and unrest in this world and I have seen it in every journey I have made on behalf of humanitarian organizations. What is most remarkable to me is the strength and courage of those less fortunate who rarely ask for sympathy but always search for hope. They are the true heroes of our world. Sharing their stories through images and words is not only my work, but my true inspiration.
Personally, I have dreamed that my images of humanitarian aid, in some small way, would contribute to those positive changes and provide individuals an awakening to our divided world and its inequality. There would surely be less suffering. The human spirit is fed by giving to others. It is imperative that we show support for advancing human dignity and peace in this world through contributions of the heart, no matter how big or small.
When in the US, and not engaged in humanitarian work overseas, I can’t imagine a greater honor than photographing a blissful couple, profoundly in love, or a graduating senior, whose childhood innocence is making way for adult independence. I am equally moved by an individual or family as each chapter of life unfolds, or by an athlete who seeks to define mind and body through strength and agility.
In my eyes, there is a natural beauty in every aspect of life and in every small wonder of the world. We are connected as we are all here to protect, adore, and admire the Gift of Life itself. Through the lens of my camera, I so often see unconditional love and a sense of hope in special events or far away places where treasured moments may often go unnoticed.
I believe that all of the answers to our questions are found in nature, which we can capture in a moment to be cherished forever. As a photographer, I hope to be a visual spokesperson, accompanying you every step of the way in an everlasting friendship.
